I haven't had a sale in a long, long time! So I am trying to cook up an idea or two for Valentine's Day! Hmmmm....any ideas for a theme? I'm already working on getting some pink bubbly and chocolates!
I'm finally back at my shop after a long 7 months helping my husband out at Pompette, his new restaurant. I was at the shop 3-4 hours a day, then I'd run over there 5 nights a week. It was really fun, insane and hard on our poor son. Things are changing so I'm there weekend nights and happily hanging out with my son more! And my dog!
Which brings me to Valentine's! Here's a taste of our shop and windows right now! Happily you will see me at the shop more now. Tuesday-Saturday 11:30-6 and Sundays 12-5. I leave at 4:00 Fridays/Sat/ occasional Sundays...but otherwise I'm at the shop! I forgot just how much I love creating windows and displays! Even cleaning and organizing has been fun! Never thought I'd say that!
Happy New Year! It's been a stressful but fun year! LOTS of change, challenges and surprises! My New Year's Resolution? Blog more--I hate the word BLOG, But I would like to work on my website, putting up pictures I take, and the pieces I like. The stuff that is really in the shop now. Up until now, my husband has helped me, he is more computer oriented, let's just say. I'm more plier, drill and beads galore oriented! So I have spent a few days studying up on how to get my phone photos up and how to inventory things. Bare with me! I think the Blog will be a bit more important in relation to my website, because I can probably better explain what to look forward to and what the focus is that I'm working on, when it comes to the website!
It is January and it is time to think ahead. First plan of action is going to be HEARTS! Valentine's orders are flying in from shops in Austin, Claremont, NYC and Seattle!! We have a lot of jars of vintage glass hearts from all sizes to all colors....time to get those out and get them to use! Of course, our resin hearts! Which I've been playing around with on this chunky black chain! I love it! Plus a clear red on a tortoise chain! I'll take a picture of that tomorrow and get it up on the site!
How is it a year??? But it's true!! Well, we are trying to plan a party and sale, but right now I'm in Vegas!
Setting up a wholesale show, it's not easy! And on top of it it's hot!
Another problem with Vegas is DRINKING...
So no time to plan my 1-year Anniversary party!!
Buying lots of cool stuff for the store-- and our party! Themes are Vintage and Color... I'm coming up with some cool handmade pieces!! I'm hoping for August 12-15... Bubbly, cookies, a sale, new Vegas reveal....
Stay tuned! Got any good ideas? Let me know!! Time to plan and plan a fun weekend!
Horses... Butterscotch here... Also with black onyx beads. And as a pin!
Here's the black stallion! With onyx beads... Looks amazing as a brooch too!
Mint fish! Also comes as brooch... Also comes as a goldfish in butterscotch and navy! Navy is really amazing!
Cockadoodle-doo! These cute roosters are my favorite! Putting these into the shop on Thursday!
Hot diggity dog
Here's the new color on the large swallow! The bone! Here's the brooch, it also comes in a necklace!
These will all be in the shop Tuesday!

Other things in the shop? Walkers, shoppers, gems....

What's up? Well...

I'm really tired! Unpacked most boxes and put things away. No product out yet but have put furniture in place. Today I got out 6 orders. And tomorrow I get out the rest! My customers have been so wonderful and patient!
Heres the shop so far with artwork and furniture.
Sonce I make most my money with wholesale, this part of the space needs to be organized!
Well, still need big italian lights hung. Need check out area fixed up. Another coat of paint on the exterior. Oh! And a sign! Haha! Few pieces of furniture painted. But all and all, soon.... Products! Lots of cool products & Handmade treasures!!
We are CLOSED at Favor on Sutter. So sad! And it was so much work! But it was time, just couldn't keep up with the rent!
Here's the shop on Saturday. We took it all down, cleaned it and hauled it all away. It was very weird locking up, three years it has supported many great employees and hosted a lot of creativity.
At the new place? We had just finished putting up our dividers to separate our studio. It's really looking nice in the studio.
I have to say, I'm such on a budget for this place. I got a quote for $500 to put up the piping to make the room divider. My Uncle had the piping custom cut and threaded for $100, my husband and uncle put them up! The curtains 9'x10' aren't cheap, but for $300 I got enough to make the "wall". Studio is almost in working order!
Okay, ready? This is the BEFORE.
Spacepop was a pop art home decor shop and gallery. Here is what the building looks like today, we are painting it...
First coat of primer over the mural. 2- more coats to go. Kind of a neutral grey. (Below is the picture of it done! Looks great!)
The Paint coat will be slightly darker. I like it! I have to admit the mural was too crazy for my business but this is looking more approachable! I'm excited. I'll keep the color inside, with the product!
Well, back to work! Lights are next. Area carpets are cleaned. One step at a time!
Gotta make it cute!!!
It was a tough year last year, we didn't really how tough until we did are taxes! It's clear are rent and expenses are too high based on our sales at our tiny little shop on Sutter. So we have decided after much thought, to close. This Friday will be our last day open at the SF location.
This is hush, hush, but we are working on a new spot to host both store and studio in Berkeley. We are sad to leave SF, and all the great customers we've come to see as friends and part of our daily cheer!
This is a before picture. It needs work, lights, tables, rugs?! On a budget of course! It will host the studio in back, and the store will be up front. I'll show you progress as it comes along.
Right now it has a very colorful mural on it! It will be painted a more muted color for our purposes.... It used to be a very hip home decor store.
As you can see, the floor is a bit wompy.... Or uneven. It's quite large, but it will have both store and studio! Nice thing is I'll be there everyday working in the studio so I'll get to all my customers! I've missed it the last 3-years having the studio a few blocks away!
There's much to do! I'll keep you in the loop! I love seeing before and after pictures, and the building processes! I hope you do!
While all this is going on I've got to start creating a new line for Fall. Yikes!
Mid-June is my goal to open. Before July 1- would be a secondary goal!
I need: indoor lights, area rugs (Persian style), paint(I've got that arranged), a sign, room divider (my uncle is helping with that! Awesome guy!)
So if you know a budget rug dealer or know an online lighting thrifty warehouse send them my way!!
Good bye old studio
Good bye old shop

It's stress time!! I leave for my first show In 7 days! And because these are shows that the buyers take the jewelry with them, I need a lot of stuff!!!! So it's a daily push! Today I'm making big swallow brooches. Yesterday we made cicada necklaces. We are casting new stuff and I have to figure out how those are going to be strung! Yikes!! Somehow when the show comes around and people start shopping, I'm relieved I can take a break from the assembly and design! It's craziness!
Heres the pieces I'm working on now:
I'm casting ALL THESE CAMEOS!
Casting red cameo at top left, cherries and red bird. These will make the line seem spring and happy!
Now to make them into beautiful pins and necklaces!
Today is January 8th, feels like there has been more 2015 days than just 8! I have been working daily on new things for the New Year, new images for Valentine's Day and new things for upcoming shows!
Lets start with Valentine's Day, it's a made up holiday, but it's a great excuse to get girly, eat chocolates and drink champagne! I found a good pile of vintage images that I couldn't pass up! And here's what I've come up with so far!
Progress on new projects? These 3-pieces were polished up yesterday and hopefully today the mold process will begin!
There's still a cherry to work on, some acorn earrings and a bangle! That's a lot!!
Lastly, shows! I'm going to LA first in 2-weeks! Then I'm going to Tucson, Arizona, yep that huge gem and jewelry show, then SF. The only show that is open to the public is Tucson, so if that's close to you, please visit!!!
Doubletree, To Bead True Blue, Grand Ballroom, Booth G105. February 1-9.
Happy New Year!!!!
I love the new year, no matter if the previous year has been great or terrible, there's something about the promise of starting new, starting over and starting fresh!
This year I really want to design a ton of things! Especially now in the beginning of the year so I can work on them over months and get them where they need to be.
Heres a few designs I'm trying to mold up:
This little Cherry. As a necklace and a pin. In red of course!
This bird. It's big! 4-5 inches! I'm thinking as a necklace. And as a pin!
These two cameos. Now the vertical one will be on silk ribbon or a cord of onyx, with a large drop of onyx hanging from the bottom. The horizontal one will also be a pin and necklace, on a thick black chain with onyx pieces wrapped into it.
Lastly, acorn earrings. This is a hat pin but they will hang the opposite way, in bone, green, black as earrings!
Some other ideas, if funds permit, are bangles. Carved and in lots of colors. And heart earrings. I have tons of hearts but I really like this one below.
These pieces above I will definitely take pictures of them as they turn out and become jewelry! Lots of color, beads, and so on!
Until then, I'm working on these hearts and arrows! Love the bakelite color theme!
Charm bracelet, heart and arrow pin and the arrow necklace! Loads of fun! And cheerful!
Happy New Year! Wish me luck! My fundraiser for molding starts tomorrow! All the money spent with Hotcakes until January 8th goes towards our molding, masters and creations! It may not seem like it, but it's expensive get the ball rolling! Yikes!
Our store looks like a Halloween candy box! Lots of colorful skulls! Pumpkins and black cats!!
Fall colors in gemstones too! These amongst others will be brought to the shop tomorrow!
Skull rings below are some my favorite skull pieces. $48. These we don't make. They are handmade in L.A. Pretty fabulous.
We've come across some pretty cool vintage pieces! These are in the shop now! I think a poodle sold yesterday! But the owls and cats and dogs are so cute! Haven't picked out one for myself to keep!
Our window is definitely screaming: Happy Halloween!
Halloween bonanza!! It really looks amazing!!
We all know what's after Halloween... The holidays! And we definitely need to start stocking up the goodies on that front!!
500 Sutter @ Powell, SF, 94102
415-362-6550 call is for a skull! Or a vintage brooch! All the things we make are on our website!!
I have been having the best time doing these Halloween shows. September 6th was the American Folk Art Festival (my favorite!) which is held in a big tent on the property of the Madonna Winery. It's so busy and loads of people rush to their favorite artist to buy up their goodies!
Pictures of my table at the show!
Hallowballoo and my Hotcakes Design Trunk show in Seattle was a smash! Loads of talent (again!) and my trunkshow was a huge hit! (Picture below)
This next Saturday is Halloween and Vine! Petaluma, September 27, 9-3. Let's hope it's fun! (My first time!) I'm looking forward to it and really have been working on my decorations for my table, as well as loads of jewels!
As soon as I'm back from this weekend it's a Halloween party at the store!! So stay tuned! Favor will be transformed into a wonderland of skulls and black cats!
